Inspired by Texas landscapes and its varied musical cultures, it blends genres with the relaxed mood of a road trip.

Key features

Product description

A drive across Texas can easily fill half a day: getting from R&B singer Leon Bridges' hometown of Fort Worth to Khruangbin's Houston base takes more than four hours. The vast state changes from limestone cliffs and granite mountains to pine and mesquite woods, desert stretches and broad grasslands, all beneath the sun that gives the EP its name. Bassist Laura Lee finds comfort in Texas's immense, uninterrupted horizon.

Bridges and Khruangbin meet musically at an imagined crossroads of the state's past, present and future, where genres flow into each other like the changing landscape. The record reaches toward dancing cowboys at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, fans of chopped-and-screwed hip-hop in Houston's southside, Austin art-school students experimenting with psychedelics, and listeners along El Paso's Mexican border who grew up with both mariachi and post-hardcore.

Those influences overlap in a colorful mixture, with purple shades as vivid and unpredictable as a Texas sunset. Homesick memories, backseat romance and late-night reflection create music suited to open windows and the quiet hum of the road. Like its highway inspiration, the EP invites an unhurried journey.

Specifications

Artists

Leon Bridges; Khruangbin

Release

Texas Sun EP

Number of discs

1

Label

DEAD OCEANS

Dimensions

12.32 x 12.32 x 0.31 inches

Weight

8.54 oz

Frequently Asked Questions

Who collaborated on this EP?

Leon Bridges and Khruangbin made the EP together.

What inspired its title?

The Texas sun and the state's wide-ranging landscapes inspired its name.

What mood does the music explore?

It explores homesick memories, backseat romance and late-night reflection with an unhurried road-trip feel.

How many discs are included?

This edition contains 1 disc.

Especificaciones

Artistas

Leon Bridges; Khruangbin

Lanzamiento

Texas Sun EP

Número de discos

1

Sello

DEAD OCEANS

Dimensiones

12.32 x 12.32 x 0.31 pulgadas

Peso

8.54 oz

Preguntas frecuentes
