Key features
Product description
Music has an essential place in Guardians of the Galaxy, with the film's 1970s songs tied directly to its plot. Director James Gunn explains that Quill's mother made him the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 compilation before her death, filling it with the songs she loved from that decade. The tape is all he has left of both his mother and his home on Earth, linking him to his past and to the sorrow of leaving and losing them.
Marvel, the studio behind the blockbuster Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers franchises, introduces the Guardians of the Galaxy team in an action-filled space adventure that takes its cinematic universe into the cosmos. Bold adventurer Peter Quill becomes the target of a relentless bounty hunt when he steals a mysterious orb sought by Ronan, a formidable villain whose plans endanger the universe. Escaping Ronan requires an uneasy alliance with four very different outsiders: the gun-carrying raccoon Rocket, tree-like humanoid Groot, deadly and mysterious Gamora, and revenge-seeking Drax the Destroyer. Once Quill learns the orb's real power and its threat to the cosmos, he must unite these unlikely rivals for a desperate final stand that will decide the galaxy's fate.
The Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared in Marvel Super Heroes comic book issue 18 in January 1969. The film cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel voicing Groot, Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector. James Gunn directs, Kevin Feige produces, and the executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Nik Korda and Stan Lee. James Gunn and Nicole Perlman wrote the film.
