Product description
Even in adventurous passages such as the complex, multi-part “Paranoid Android,” the band stays tight, melodic and forceful, while Thom Yorke moves easily from gentle falsetto to fierce snarls. The musicianship grows more striking on repeat listening as electronic rhythms, eerie keyboard parts, unusual meters and elaborate syncopations reveal themselves.
The performances are backed by strong songs, from the shimmering “Subterranean Homesick Alien” and wistful “Karma Police” to the dark, slow movement of “Exit Music (For a Film).” OK Computer establishes Radiohead as one of the most inventive and rewarding groups of the '90s.
Building on the textured soundscapes of The Bends, Radiohead created another impressively accomplished set of modern guitar rock. The anthemic guitar heroics heard on Pablo Honey and even The Bends give way to music stripped of many obvious guitar-rock conventions. The result is subtle and textured while retaining the feeling of rock and roll.
