Fleet Foxes is the Seattle quintet's 2008 debut full-length album, presented here in an English-language, single-disc edition. Its baroque harmonic pop draws on folk, choral and gospel traditions with help from Phil Ek.
Key features
Product description
The band's pleasure in making harmony-rich baroque pop comes through clearly, though the musicians do not think of themselves primarily as a rock group. Credit cards, minimum-wage earnings, tips, friends and family helped fund the first demo, followed by the Sun Giant EP and this debut album, with family friend Phil Ek guiding the recordings.
The influences range from folk, pop, choral and gospel music to sacred harp singing, West Coast sounds, traditional music from Ireland to Japan, film scores and fellow musicians in the Northwest. The songs explore the natural world, family connections, past loves and cold graves.
